Der Himmel oder der Himmel?
Dear Student. One day in class you told me that you saw a clear blue heaven. While it sounded poetic, I wasn’t sure what you meant.
For a moment I thought you were describing a religious experience, with angels, trumpets and eternal life.
Or maybe you wanted to talk about a sunset or a sunrise or a particular shade of blue… or grey.
Der Himmel means both the sky and heaven in english and it is important to pick the right one. In the last weeks, the sky above Berlin has been blue and clear and that is a rare treat in this city.
